Bringing healthcare and housing within reach

Many health challenges need attention, which have been exacerbated by the 2010 earthquake and the high levels of malnutrition in much of the population has increased sharply. Access to quality healthcare and dignified housing is a major way to minimise the health crisis in Haiti.

In addition to providing Haitian people access to clean water and clean shelter, many health-related challenges are dealt with. Problems in relation to access to health care have been exacerbated by the 2010 earthquake, due to infrastructure being destroyed.

Underlying issues relating to a high level of the population migrating to cities and suffering from malnutrition due to poverty make the problems even more challenging.

Haiti also has one of the highest rates of maternal and infant deaths in the world. Approximately one in 80 women will die due to pregnancy and or childbirth. Besides, the infant mortality rate is 59 per 1,000 live births.

At Haiti Stole My Heart Foundation®, we work hard to provide more Haitians with access to health care. We are creating international partnerships to make and equip hospitals in Haiti; and working with local leaders to develop sustainable rural housing economies.
